Chris Power, DPT,CSCS started his career path in Exercise Science, earning his BS from University of North Florida in 2011. He spent several years working with athletes of all levels and earned his Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification through the NSCA. He then earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of St. Augustine, a rigorous program known for manual therapy techniques.

Because of Chris’s background in both exercise and manual therapy, he is able to use manual therapy when appropriate while also guiding his patients through skillfully selected exercises to be as strong and fit as possible. Chris’s treatment approach is grounded in research based guidelines and protocols. Chris gently pushes his patients to explore their true functional capacity through exercise. In doing so he consistently gets results that surprise his patients and even the other Big Ivy therapists.

Chris excels at treating:

  • weightlifters
  • athletes
  • older adults who want to be more capable but are limited by pain or chronic injuries
  • shoulder injuries
  • neck injuries

He is a proud father to his son Gus and husband to his high school sweetheart Lauren, is a cancer survivor, avid outdoor adventurer, and Land Rover enthusiast and driving instructor. When not at work, he can be found hiking with his family (including his dogs Huck and Scout), or riding horses on the farm. He is a proud Jacksonville Jaguars fan (someone has to do it), and a member of the US Soccer supporters Club known as the American Outlaws, and just a general fan of sports.

Here’s what patients have to say about working with Chris

Chris put together a plan for me that included physical therapy AND personal training. We worked together for 6 weeks getting my hip into shape before my trip. He also taught me ongoing exercises to do at home and the gym on how to KEEP my hip in shape. Who knew! Physical Therapy inside a gym! Thank you Chris!

Chris, the PT was excellent. He did a great assessment and gave me exercises to help my chronically stiff neck/shoulders. He was very communicative and gave helpful feedback. I am now going to start attending strengthening/stretching classes for folks over 50. Can’t wait. Thanks for great PT services.

Best physical therapy anywhere!! Wish I hadn’t wasted a few months going somewhere else!! Very helpful and knowledgeable!!!
